Local Roundup: Results from Aug. 26

Palmerton’s boys and girls soccer teams picked up wins Saturday.

Elsewhere, the Northwestern girls soccer team continued its strong start with an impressive win, while Tamaqua’s girls tennis team also posted a victory.

GIRLS SOCCER

Northwestern-C. Columbia

Northwestern received goals from three different players to gain a 3-1 non-league victory over defending state 2A champion Central Columbia.

Cammy Fitch had a goal and an assist for the Tigers, who improved to 2-0.

Kherington Yezik and Brook Balliet also tallied for Northwestern, while Katie Brensinger added a pair of assists.

Salisbury-Palmerton

Nataly Walters scored a pair of goals to propel Palmerton to a 4-0 Colonial League victory over Salisbury.

Walters tallied both scores in the first half as the Blue Bombers built a 3-0 lead.

Palmerton (2-0) also received a goal in the opening half from Cora Wentz, while Addie Buck capped the scoring with a second-half goal.

Hannah Barry finished with a pair of assists, and Chase Montanari also chipped in with a helper.

Pleasant Vy.-Delaware Vy.

Regan Curabba had a hat trick to lead Delaware Valley to a 4-0 non-league victory over Pleasant Valley.

Curabba scored twice in the first half to help the Warriors build a lead.

The winners, who finished with a 20-11 advantage in shots on goal, also received a goal from Alivia Wieder.

The Bears, who received 11 saves from keeper Sadie Rizzo, had four corners to DelVal’s three.

PV is now 1-1.

BOYS SOCCER

Palmerton-Lehighton

Wyatt Spalding had a pair of goals to lead Palmerton to a 3-1 non-league win over Lehighton.

Spalding opened the scoring for the Blue Bombers (1-0) in the second half on an assist from AJ Borger before another score made it 2-0. Trevor Anthony’s goal on a penalty kick pushed Palmerton’s lead to 3-0. Ben Andrews made 10 saves in the win.

Jake Hall scored for the Indians (0-1). Bryce Miller made 11 saves.

GIRLS TENNIS

Tamaqua-ES North

Tamaqua swept doubles play to earn a 3-2 victory over East Stroudsburg North.

Both Blue Raider doubles teams won in straight sets. Gabby Eroh and Bradyn Brothers pulled out a narrow decision at No. 1 doubles, while Bri Snyder and Jasmine Eberts cruised at No. 2.

Tamaqua, now 2-2, also received a singles win from Jenna Fernandez.

Gabby Eroh/ Bradyn Brothers (T) def. Xenia Pelekhach/Sophia Bezpalko 7-5, 6-4; Bri Snyder/Jasmine Eberts (T) def. Alexandria Gonzalez/Claire Sanchez 6-3, 6-0.

Jim Thorpe-Bangor

Bangor won its third straight match with a 5-0 non-league victory over Jim Thorpe.

Montana Weidman and Claire Martocci battled to earn wins in the Nos. 1 and 2 singles matches for the Slaters (3-1). Weidman posted a 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-2 win over the Olympians’ (0-3) Ashlynn Miller while Martocci posted a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory against Keira Reese, respectively.
