Soup sale
Effort UMC has announced its first sale of the season, ending Sept 20.
The soups being offered are 7 bean & ham and chicken corn chowder.
The sale runs through Sept. 20 and the pickup date is Sept. 24 after each service.
Backpack blessing
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church has scheduled its Blessing of the Backpacks for any Mass on Aug. 26 and Aug. 27.
In addition to the blessing, there will be a special treat from the parish for those bringing said backpack, book bag or binder.
Special music
St. Peters UMC, Saylorsburg, will host HERITAGE, a Penn View Bible Institute vocal quintet, during the Aug. 27 worship. The service begins at 9 a.m.
All are welcome to worship and enjoy the quintet’s music as the members brings praise & glory to God.
Community Day
Ross Township will be celebrating all good things in Ross Township from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Sept. 16, the township’s Community Day.
The Ross Township Historical Society Museum, a short walk from the Community Day festivities, is located in the Municipal Hall Annex, 258 Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg. It will be open during those stated hours.
Look for the large “Open” flag are the instructions. All are welcome.
There is no charge for admission.
Beginning in October, the museum will be open on the second Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Date change
The previously announced autumn flea market date at St. Peter’s UMC has been changed. It has been rescheduled to Sept. 23.
Potential vendors should still call 570-992-6930 for availability.
Eldred cleanup
Eldred Township will be having its Fall Cleanup from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 29 and from 8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 30.
The event is free (excepting tires) to all township residents. Folks can bring all the things not suitable for disposal in the regular trash, such as mattresses, old lawn furniture, gas grills, etc.
The township does recycle metals so residents are asked to keep those things separate.
Tires can be bought for a fee of: $5 for car tires, $10 for truck tires and $15 for large truck (tractor trailer etc.) tires.
The next event of this type will be in the spring of 2024.
A.A. meetings
McMichaels UMC hosts A.A. meetings at the church every Wednesday at noon and every Saturday at 6:30 p.m. All meetings are confidential.
