Trooper helps save man on turnpike

State police at the Pocono barracks said Trooper Pasquale Russo responded to a drug overdose on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and performed life-saving measures that helped to save the victim’s life.

The trooper was dispatched to mile marker 57.1 in South Whitehall Township at 11:51 p.m. July 31 for a report of an unconscious man.

Upon arrival, the trooper found the 34-year-old Philadelphia man lying in the grass and learned NARCAN had been administered to the victim. Police said Russo performed the life-saving measures until the Cetronia Ambulance crew arrived and transported the man to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
