A 65-year-old Slatington man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police responded to a welfare check at 6:31 p.m. July 7 at the intersection of Roberts and the Neffs-Laurys roads in North Whitehall Township.

Police said they responded to a report of a man slumped over the steering wheel and upon investigation took the driver of the 2022 GMC into custody after he failed field sobriety tests. Police did not release his name.
