Carbon County Court - Sentencings
Carbon County President Judge Roger N. Nanovic recently handed down sentences for several people who pleaded guilty.
Jovanny Cintron, no age given, of Brooklyn, New York, will serve six months to two years minus one day in the Carbon County Correctional Facility on a charge of recklessly endangering another person.
Judge Nanovic gave him credit for the 244 days he’s already served.
He’ll also have to get a mental health evaluation.
State police charged Cintron with two counts each of fleeing or eluding police; two counts each of recklessly endangering another person; driving under the influence of a controlled substance, impaired ability, first offense; receiving stolen property; resisting arrest; driving without a license; failing to obey a stop sign; disregarding traffic lanes; careless driving, and speeding on Nov. 23, 2022.
On the DUI charge, he’ll serve 72 hours to six months in jail; pay a $1,000 fine; undergo outpatient treatment; successfully complete Alcohol Highway Safety School; and surrender his license for 12 months.
On the charge of resisting arrest, he’s serve the same amount of jail time, concurrently.
The remaining charges were dropped.
Xavier F. Olivero, 24, of Reading, pleaded guilty to corruption of minors, and was sentenced to three months to two years in state prison.
Judge Nanovic also ordered him to pay court costs, a $100 LiveScan fee; submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.
Olivero also pleaded guilty to having a small amount of marijuana, and was fined $500.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission charged Olivero with possessing a firearm with an altered manufacturer number; carrying a firearm without a license; corruption of minors; having a small amount of marijuana for personal use; possession of drug paraphernalia; and three counts of violating Game Commission rules and regulations on April 7, 2021.
Kristian Andrew Carwell, 23, of Bowmanstown, failed to register as a sexual offender and will serve one to two years in state prison.
Judge Nanovic also ordered Carwell to pay court costs; a $100 LiveScan fee; and obtain mental health and drug and alcohol evaluations.
Lansford police charged Carwell with the crime on April 27, 2022.
Carwell was convicted of indecent assault in Carbon County in 2020, and has a record of failing to register as a sex offender.
Jeffrey Roy Reiss Jr., 32, of Lansford, pleaded guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct.
Judge Nanovic fined Reiss $100 and ordered him to pay court costs and to pay a LiveScan fee of $100.
Lansford police charged Reiss with the crimes after an incident on Oct. 20, 2020.
Jarred R. Troxell, 19, of Tamaqua, was accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for six months.
If he successfully completes the program, for first-time, non-violent offenders, his record may be expunged.
Judge Nanovic ordered Troxell to pay $650 to offset the cost of the program, and to pay a LiveScan fee of $100 and a $50 monthly supervision fee.
Troxell also must undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, and write a letter of apology to the victim.
Lansford police charged Troxell with loitering and prowling at night; disorderly conduct; and criminal trespass after an incident on Feb. 11, 2023.
Kaela Maximina Franco, 29, of Saylorsburg, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana.
Judge Nanovic fined her $250 and ordered her to pay a $250 LiveScan fee.
Franklin Township police charged Franco with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on Nov. 24, 2014.
The paraphernalia charge was dropped.
Joshua Robert Tessitore, 37, of Lansford, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance.
Judge Nanovic ordered him to serve one year on probation; pay court costs, a $100 LiveScan fee, and a $50 monthly supervision fee.
The judge also ordered Tessitore to undergo drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations.
Lansford police charged Tessitore with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after an incident on April 28 2021. The paraphernalia charge was dropped.
Brian Kehl, 40, of Slatington, will serve jail time after he pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of an automobile.
Judge Nanovic ordered him to serve three to 18 months in the Carbon County Correctional Facility; pay court costs, a $100 LiveScan fee, and a $50 monthly supervision fee.
Kehl will serve his sentence concurrently with the 27 to 64 months he’s serving at the Camp Hill state prison.
He will also have to get a drug and alcohol evaluation.
Summit Hill police charged Kehl with unauthorized use of an automobile and receiving stolen property on July 24, 2022.
Amanda Dorothy Hannah, 24, of East Stroudsburg, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, general impaired ability, first offense.
Judge Nanovic fined her $2,000; serve 48 hours to six months in jail; surrender her license for 12 months; undergo a mental health evaluation; and ordered her to pay court costs, a $100 LiveScan fee, and a $50 monthly supervision fee.
She also pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, for which she’ll serve one year on probation; pay $112 in restitution; pay court costs, a $100 LiveScan fee, and a $50 monthly supervision fee, and undergo a mental health evaluation.
Nesquehoning police charged Hannah with DUI, incapable of driving safely, first offense; DUI controlled substance, impaired ability, first offense; driving without a license; disregarding traffic lanes; DUI controlled substance, first offense; and DUI, combination of alcohol and drugs, first offense on May 6, 2022.
