Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday approved a contract with Propio Language Services in Overland Park, Kansas, to provide language translation to non-English-speaking clients for five years beginning July 2 through July 2, 2028. The services will be charged by a fee schedule.
Chief Probation Officer Charles J. Begansky said the company provides translation for 250 languages.
As requested by Emergency Management Coordinator John Matz, the commissioners approved the state fiscal year 2023–2024 Radiation Emergency Response Fund grant agreement for $13,051.
The grant is used in the development of improved emergency response capabilities to respond to, and recover from, radiological accidents or incidents at Pennsylvania’s nuclear power plants, and exercises to measure those emergency response capabilities.
In other matters, commissioners approved the hiring of Calvin Briggs, of Shenandoah, and Ryan Briggs, of Union Township, as posters in the Tax Claim Bureau at $14 an hour.
Also, Wendy Seigenfuse, of Walker Township, was transferred to the job of district justice assistant 1 from clerk typist II in the Children and Youth Services Agency. She will earn $18.09 an hour beginning Aug. 14.
