Pennsylvania State Police - crashes
State police report the following crashes on area roads.
• Alan J. Kuhn, 56, of Albrightsville, was uninjured after he hit a deer on Route 33 in Plainfield Township at 3:46 a.m. June 23.
State police he was driving a Hyundai Elantra southbound when then deer entered the right lane and was hit. The car was towed.
• Raquel M. Perez, 25, of Easton, was cited for leaving the scene of an accident after a crash at 5:56 p.m. June 21 on Old Post Road, Washington Township. State police said she was driving a Toyota 4-Runner northwest when it struck the rear of a Honda CRV driven by Frank A. Halkias, 50, of Slatington, after he had stopped for a stop sign at the intersection of Route 873. Police said Perez left the scene and was later identified.
Police said Halkias was treated by the Northern Valley EMS unit and transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for evaluation of a cut on his forehead.
• Wayne A. Boger Jr., 30, of Walnutport, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 1:32 a.m. June 2 on Kistler Road in Lowhill Township.
State police said he was driving a Chevrolet Blazer that left the road and hit a tree. The car was towed from the scene.
Police said Boger was cited.
• State police said no one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at May 29 at the intersection of Schochary and Holben’s Valley roads in Lynn Township.
Police said Michael G. Metro, 78, of Lansford, was driving a Subaru Impreza, and a 16-year-old boy from Kempton was driving a Ford F-150.
• Martha A. Matusick, 60, of Beaver Meadows, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 9:21 a.m. June 28 at the intersection of routes 93 and 424 in Hazle Township.
State police said she was taken by the American Patient Transport Systems unit to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. The extent of her injuries is unknown, police said.
Police said she was driving a Suzuki SX4 southbound on Route 93 when it was struck by a Honda CRV driven by Denise Hinkle, 48, of Barto, who was traveling north on Route 93 and attempted to turn left onto Route 424. The Suzuki was towed from the scene.
Hinkle was cited. She was uninjured.
• Darlen Plasencia, 24, of Hazleton, was cited by state police for following too closely after a mishap at 4:13 p.m. June 28 on the CANDO Expressway in Hazle Township.
Police said he was driving a Acura TLX southbound when it struck the rear of a Toyota Corolla driven by Raymond L. Schwenk, 21, of Orwigsburg.
Police said no one was injured in the incident.
The Acura was towed.
• Jason S. Davis, 43, of Slatington, was cited by state police with failure to drive at a safe speed after a crash at 12:12 a.m. June 30 on Interstate 80 in Sugarloaf Township.
Police said he was driving a Chevrolet Express eastbound when he reached for his GPS from the center console and the vehicle struck the rear of a Volvo operated by Estaban Negron, 42, of West Milford, New Jersey.
No one was injured in the incident. The Express was towed from the scene.
• An Effort woman and two of her passengers, both ages 16, escaped injuries when a vehicle she was driving struck a deer at 1:24 p.m. June 30 on Paradise Valley Road in Paradise Township.
Police said Gabrielle Myra, 41, was operating a Hyundai Tucson southbound when the deer attempted to cross the road in front of it and was struck head-on. Police said the vehicle was towed.
• A 2015 Lexus RX350 sustained disabling damages when it struck a deer at 9:17 p.m. July 6 on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.
State police said Paula K. Hydro, 58, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was westbound when the deer entered the road and was struck. Police said Hydro pulled the vehicle into a parking stall in a nearby parking lot.
Police said she refused medical treatment and requested to use a personal tow company.
