The Lehighton Education and Athletic Foundation is accepting nominations for Lehighton Area High School graduates to be considered for the honor of being inducted into the Graduates of Distinction Class of 2023.

The program is designed to recognize alumni of the Lehighton Area School District who have achieved notable success in their occupational field or who have served their community or humanity in a positive way.

Applications may be submitted by anyone who thinks a candidate is worthy of consideration for admission. Applications are available on the LEAF website (LEAF-foundation.org) or can be obtained by contacting Tim Tkach via email at sharptkach@yahoo.com. Completed applications may be mailed to Lehighton Education & Athletic foundation, c/o Awards Selection Committee, P.O. Box 370, Lehighton, PA 18235. They may also be dropped off at the Larry Markley Insurance Agency located at 5th and Coal streets in Lehighton. The deadline for nominations is July 31. A submitted application will remain as an active nomination for a period of two years.

There will be three to five nominees selected each year. There shall be no more than two members selected posthumously per year.

A seven-person selection committee comprised of educators, business people, and other professionals will select the nominees to be inducted. Nominees selected for membership will be notified by Sept. 15. For more information on the selection process visit the LEAF website.

The selected inductees will be honored during a reception at the Lehighton American Legion in October. They will also have their names added to the Graduates of Distinction Wall of Honor display located at the entrance to the gymnasium located in the Lehighton Elementary Center.
