State police at Lehighton – Crashes

State police at Lehighton released information on crashes:

• Police said a 2020 Kia Sportage was towed from the scene of a vehicle-deer collision at 10:23 p.m. May 23 on Hazelwood Road in Towamensing Township.

Police said Samuel L. Hendricks, 28, of Palmerton, was southbound when the deer entered the roadway and was struck by his Sportage. He was uninjured.

• Stephen K. Terry, 27, of Lansford, was cited for failure to yield for a stop or yield sign following a two-vehicle crash at 9:44 p.m. June 9 at the intersection of West Abbott and Tunnel streets in Lansford.

Police said he was driving east on West Abbott Street when he failed to stop for a stop sign, proceeding into the intersection and striking a an SUV driven by Giovanna M. Gines Ramos, 18, of Lansford.

No one was injured.

• Two people suffered injuries in a crash at 12:22 p.m. June 11 on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township.

Police said Migdalia Horan, 51, of Easton, the driver of one of the vehicles, and Maria E. Colon, 70, of Bethlehem, a passenger in the car, were transported by personnel from the Palmerton Community Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township. Police said they both had minor injuries.

Police said the mishap happened when Horan, driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, failed to slow down for traffic in front of his vehicle and struck the rear of a 2022 Honda CRV driven by Anna K. Baumgardner, 20, of Brodheadsville. She was uninjured.

The vehicles sustained minor damages, police said.

• Two people were injured in a mishap at 3:12 p.m. June 12 at the intersection of Scenic Drive and Interchange Road in Polk Township.

Police said Erin M. Pekurny, 58, of Kunkletown, had minor injuries and was transported by personnel from the West End Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg. Sydney N. Sterner, 19, of Saylorsburg, had a small cut on her chin but refused a medical transport.

Police said Sterner was operating a 2004 Hyundai Elantra south on Scenic Drive when it failed to stop in time and struck a 2018 Lexus operated by Pekurny, who was also southbound and had slowed down due to a yellow traffic light at the intersection with Interchange Road. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene, police said.

Sterner was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.

• Brittney N. Davido, 29, of Lehighton, was cited for driving on roadways after a crash at 5:52 p.m. May 13 at the intersection of Route b248 and Centre Street in Parryville.

Police said she was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound when it changed lanes and struck the right front bumper of a 2005 Acura operated by Jose R. Arias Dominguez, 28, of Slatington. Police said Davido continued on Route 248 after the mishap and did not stop. The Tahoe sustained minor damages, they said.

No one was hurt in the incident.

• Police said a 17-year-old Lehighton boy was cited for driving after a one-vehicle crash at 11:25 p.m. May 31 on Gilberts Hill Road in Mahoning Township.

Police said he was driving a 2012 Audi that crashed into a utility pole, resulting in entrapment.

Police said the driver was not uninjured but was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.
