Man charged after gun purchase was denied

Shawn Mohammed, 25, of Norristown, is facing firearm sale or transfer charges after he was denied the purchase of a gun at a Monroe County business.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said he entered Saber South Firearms, 2164 Route 209, Chestnuthill Township, and completed a firearms transaction record application.

Police said an employee there ran a background check through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System and Mohammed was subsequently denied the purchase, resulting in the charges being approved by the county district attorney’s office.
