Two women die in Schuylkill County crash

Two Schuylkill County women died in a two-vehicle crash at 2:29 p.m. Monday on Route 183 in Wayne Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Carolynn M. Drum, 39, and Maria Enfinger, 18, both of New Philadelphia, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened in front of 23 Meadow Brook Drive. Police said Drum was driving a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander northbound when it left the lane of travel, crossed the double yellow lines into the southbound lane and struck the trailer portion of a 2023 Freightliner driven by Paul K. Laudenslager, 46, of Easton, coming to rest in the northbound lane.

A third person in the Outlander, Adam R. Pontry, 19, of Wapwallopen, sustained suspected minor injuries, police said. He was transported by personnel from the Shenandoah Community Ambulance Association to the Reading Hospital.

Laudenslager was uninjured.
