Inmate indicted on a charge of assault at prison

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Lawrence Anthony Christie, 32, a federal inmate at FCI Schuylkill, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of assaulting officers or employees.

According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, the indictment alleges that on May 14, 2021, Christie struck and injured a corrections officer.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Special Investigative Services of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luisa Honora Berti is prosecuting the case.

The maximum penalty under federal law for the offense is up to 20 years’ imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.
