Towamensing students raise almost $6,000

Amy Patterson-Serfass, Towamensing Elementary fifth grade student, slimes third grade teacher Alexandria Spalding last Tuesday afternoon in the culminating activity of the PTO’s fourth annual “Color Run For FUNds” fundraiser. The top ten student fundraisers earned the opportunity to slime a Towamensing staff member. Held last week at the school, the run featured students taking a lap around the track while volunteers doused them with colored powder. Other activities included carnival games, a potato sling shot, and a snack station. This year’s Color Run raised $5,867.39, eclipsing the PTO’s goal of $5,000.

“We’re excited to put all of this money toward more fun and educational activities for our students when we come back in the fall,” Spalding, who co-chaired the event, said. JARRAD HEDES/TIMES NEWS
