DUI/DRUG Charges

State police reported on the following incidents:

• A 23-year-old Allentown man is facing possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver charges after a traffic stop made by state police at Fern Ridge.

Police said they stopped the man in a 2021 Mercury for vehicle code violations at 9:43 a.m. April 24 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police said they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and after a consent search of the vehicle they discovered illegal narcotics.

• A 36-year-old Hazle Township man was charged by state police at the Hazleton barracks for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 3:11 a.m. April 15 on East Market Street in Banks Township.

Police said he was driving a 2012 Ford Focus east when it crossed the road, left the westbound lane and struck a utility pole.

The driver was uninjured, police said.

• A 35-year-old East Stroudsburg man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol following a one-vehicle crash at 4:58 p.m. May 6 at the intersection of Route 209 and Lesh Road in Hamilton Township.

State police at Stroudsburg said they discovered the man was under the influence.

He was transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, for processing, and released.
