Rush traffic stop yields cash, nearly $100K in meth, fentanyl

A Barnesville man was jailed this week after Pennsylvania State Police found him in possession of drugs with an estimated street value of almost $100,000.

Police said the man, Kenneth Lee Kryworuka, 49, of Golf Road, was also wanted on bench warrants from Schuylkill and Luzerne counties.

State police troopers and officers from the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office conducted a joint investigation and pulled over Kryworuka’s vehicle near the intersection of Joseph Henkel Street and Marian Avenue in Rush Township at 3:31 p.m. May 15.

After Kryworuka gave consent to search his vehicle, police said they found more than $7,500 in cash; 1,813 grams of suspected methamphetamine with a street value of around $90,000; and about 38 grams of suspected fentanyl with a street value of around $3,800.

Police said Kryworuka was also in possession of crack cocaine, marijuana and two firearms.

He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James Reiley, Pottsville, on four felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; four misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm prohibited and possession of a firearm without a license.

Reiley set bail at $75,000 straight cash. Unable to post bail, Kryworuka was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison.
