Bray trying for spot on Packer Township supervisors

Paul W. Bray is a Republican candidate for Packer Township supervisors.

He is a graduate of Marian High School and an 8-year Army veteran.

Bray has been a volunteer firefighter for Citizens’ Fire Co. in Weatherly for 38 years and is still active. He volunteered with the Weatherly Ambulance for over 20 years.

Bray was a registered Democrat and recently switched to Republican.

“Why? There are 85 registered Democrats and 530 registered Republicans. I never cared what party you are in, I treat all the same,” he said.

“I have been working for Packer Township in the road department since 2017 and been Emergency Management coordinator since 2019. I not only see issues in the township, but hear them from the residents of the township. What are residents complaining about? The roads, garbage, people that don’t pay, wind mills, Hazleton water authority,” he said.

Bray said he is running for supervisor to help improve the township.

“Be proactive, not reactive. Apply for grants. Invest our money instead of sitting on it; be more transparent,” Bray said.

He is working with residents of the township and fellow firefighters to install additional dry fire hydrants. to lower fire insurance on houses.

“As for the roads, many of you know that twice since I was hired by the township, I was able to get tar to repair the roads,” Bray said.

In the past few years, the supervisors have purchased cold patch, he said.

“Many of you know the difference between both. Price is also different. Cold patch is twice the price of hot tar. My first year as a township employee, I was allowed to repair 35 potholes with hot tar. They are all still intact.”

“Last year, we repaired and paved the pipe on Grist Mill, the stop sign area on Wetzel Run, and the pipe that was replaced two years ago on Roundhead. Then we plug patched Wetzel Run for the new paving area, part of Wallace Way,” Bray said.
