Marian defeated Nativity in softball action on Friday.

Marian held off Nativity for an 8-6 Schuylkill League victory.

Morgan Kelly had two doubles and knocked in three runs for the Fillies, while Malina Letcher delivered a key two-run single in the sixth inning.

Kelly also earned the pitching win, striking out 11.

For Nativity, Caelan Quick finished with three hits.

The win lifted Marian’s overall record to 12-4 and its league mark to 7-4.

Johannah Taylor went 4-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs to lead North Schuylkill to a 20-0 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.

Morgan Dinger, Jordanna Frie, Emilee Slotcavage and Abby Kuzio all added two hits for the Spartans (11-4, 9-2).

Dinger tossed a one-hitter and struck out three to get the pitching victory in the three-inning contest.

Oleska McAndrew had the only hit for the Olympians (1-15, 0-10)

A big third inning allowed North Schuylkill to break a tie and go on to post a 7-4 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.

Tied 2-2, the Spartans used four walks, two hits and an error to score five times in the third frame. The key hit was Jeff Markosky’s two-run single.

The Olympians actually outhit North Schuylkill by a 9-3 margin, but 10 walks to the Spartans (8-9; 5-6) aided their win.

Ian Henkels finished 3-for-4 with a run scored for Thorpe, while Garrett Lienhard added a pair of hits.

Markosky was also the game’s winning pitcher, allowing just one earned run in his complete-game effort.

The loss dropped the Olympians to 4-13 overall and 2-8 in the league.
