Ryan hosts wine, spirits festival
The Ryan Township Fire Company will mix enlightenment with locally crafted beers, wines and spirits during a May 13 fundraiser.
The Wine, Hops and Spirits Festival is the first of its kind for the volunteer department at 945 Barnesville Dr. (Route 54), Barnesville.
Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy drinks from breweries, wineries and distilleries - and while there, they can have a tarot card reading, listen to live music, and browse offerings from vendors and crafters. In addition, a basket raffle is open to the public from 5-p.m. on May 11 and 12, and continues on the day of the ticketed event.
Of the festival, organizer Curtis Fritz said he recently attended a similar event at another fire company.
“I thought it was a good idea,” he said, and pitched it to fellow members.
They, too, were on board and planning began.
The lineup of beverage companies includes Three Dogs Vino of Bloomsburg; Bouchette Vineyards of Bethel; King Cole Winery of Schuylkill Haven; Lucchi Family Wine Cellars of Scranton; Bright Path Brewing of Jim Thorpe; Lakeside Park Winery of Barnesville; Jack-Azz Distilling LLC of Spring Glenn, and Revere Brewery of Tamaqua.
Tarot card readings will be available from noon to 5 p.m. from Tarot for Living. At the end of the reading, individuals will receive a complimentary healing stone or crystal based on their needs and concerns.
Autumn Falls will provide live entertainment from 1-4 p.m., and there will be raffles and food available.
Fritz said event proceeds will help cover the cost of a new fire truck that was delivered to the company this month.
“We are hoping that everybody will turn out for this event,” Fritz said.
Discounted presale tickets are available. Tickets will also be available at the door. For more information, visit the company’s Facebook page at “Fire District 26 Ryan Twp Fire/Rescue.”
