Jim Thorpe and Lehighton posted sweeps in Schuylkill League action on Tuesday.

Pottsville-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe’s stellar season continued with a sweep of Pottsville in Schuylkill League action.

The Olympians remained the only unbeaten team in Division 1 with a 118-30 win in the boys meet, and are now 5-0 with one week left in the season. Jim Thorpe’s girls moved to 4-0-1 with a 97-52 win in the girls’ meet.

Zeeshawn Issifu (100, 200), Ridge Snyder (400, 800), Kolby Cavanaugh (300H, triple jump), Bryson Heydt (shot put, discus) and Andrew Warner (long jump, high jump) all had a pair of wins in the boys meet.

Kaila O’Connor won the 100, 200 and 300 hurdles in the girls meet. Celia Gonzalez-Rodriguez (1600, 3200) and Gabby Cinicola (javelin, triple jump) also added a pair of first-place finishes.

Jim Thorpe closes out the regular season next week at Pine Grove.

Lehighton-Tamaqua

Lehighton delivered a Schuylkill League sweep at Tamaqua.

The Indians rolled to a 109-41 victory over the hosts in the girls’ meet to improve to 4-1-1, and secured a 76-73 win in the boys’ competition to move to 3-3 on the season.

Timara Klotz (100, 200) and Madylin Wolter (discus, javelin) both had a pair of wins in the girls meet.

Ethan Buchert (100, 200) and Joseph Roth (triple jump, high jump) also recorded a pair of first-place finishes in the boys meet.

Katelynn Fredericks won the 100 and 300 hurdles for the Tamaqua girls.

Marian-Minersville

Minersville swept Marian in a Schuylkill League meet.

The Battlin’ Miners won a showdown of two of the top teams in Division 2 and handed the Fillies their first loss, 78-68, to move to 5-1 on the season.

In the boys meet, Minersville rolled to a 101-44 victory.

Carly Minchhoff (javelin), Eliza Bauder (high jump) and Alizabeth Pikitus (400) all had individual event wins for the Fillies (5-1), who also swept the 400, 1600 and 3200 relays.

Nathaniel Rosario (300H), Jesse Rodino (discus) and Jose Ramirez Lara (high jump) all had wins for Marian in the boys meet.

Northern Lehigh’s girls posted a win in Colonial League action.

The Bulldogs secured a 77.5-67.5 victory over Wilson, and suffered a narrow 72-70 setback against Bangor.

Caitlin Kirk won the shot put and discus for the Northern Lehigh girls. Mikayla Gordon (400), Emma Heil (1600), Evelina Mayak (100H) and Zoe Hathaway (high jump) also had event victories.

Nick Frame won both the javelin and the high jump for the Northern Lehigh boys, who were swept by both Bangor (95-45) and Wilson (95-50).

The Hurricanes posted an 87-54 win in the boys competition, and a 111-29 victory in the girls meet.

Bryan Wilde had wins in the high jump and triple jump for the Panthers, while Andrew Hazzard (400), Austin Hadley (shot put), Michael Pascoe (discus) and Brad Lee Jones (javelin) also posted victories.

In the girls meet, Izabella Bochicchio (shot put) and Mikayla Yuricheck (discus) recorded wins for Panther Valley.
