Fern Ridge State Police - thefts

State police at Fern Ridge reported on several thefts in the region:

• Police are investigating a case of a missing license plate off a vehicle.

Police said they responded to Blackthorn Drive in Chestnuthill for a report of the plate, which bears the number XMY9318, missing from the complainant’s 2021 Carrie-Craft trailer.

Police said it was removed between 9:52 a.m. and 8:23 p.m. April 12.

• The theft of a checkbook from a victim’s vehicle is being investigated.

They responded to a site on Route 209, Chestnuthill Township, where it was reported to them at 12:35 a.m. April 17 by the victim, a resident of Paradise Valley. Police said the location of where the incident occurred is uncertain.

• A 39-year-old Albrightsville man is the victim of a burglary that was reported at 9:19 p.m. April 14.

Police said the man reported his residence on Nosirrah Road, Penn Forest Township, was broken into when someone gained access through a front living room window.

The victim said a safe and two laptops were stolen.

State police at Fern Ridge also reported on the following ID theft cases:

• A 63-year-old Effort woman is the victim of an identity theft.

Police said they were called to a property along Country Acres Court in Chestnuthill Township where the woman told them she checked her credit history and found that Experian reported someone attempted to open a credit card in her name without authorization.

• A 56-year-old Jim Thorpe woman is the victim of a theft by deception/identity theft incident.

Police said they were called at 1:38 p.m. April 14 to Route 903 in Penn Forest Township to investigate the matter.

• Police were summoned at 2:18 p.m. April 13 to investigate a theft by deception/identity theft incident.

Police said the victim resides along Yellowstone Drive in Chestnuthill Township and reported an unknown person attempted to open a checking account through the Bank of America using their personal information.

Police said the account was flagged and closed by the victim and no funds were obtained.

Bank of America is investigating the incident as well.

• A burglary in Chestnuthill Township was reported at 2:17 p.m. April 17.

Police said it happened along Chickasaw Drive.
