A Northampton County woman has waived charges for court after being accused of hitting another woman with her vehicle during a dispute.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Theodore Wilson of the state police at Lehighton in the case against Kaelis Aviles:
At 6:13 p.m. April 1, Wilson responded to the 1000 block of Red Fox Court, Polk Township, where several people said the Aviles, 20, of Freemansburg, had started an argument with them over property and before leaving, struck one of the them with a vehicle.
They had a video that showed Aviles arguing and then going to the driver side of the vehicle, with a woman entering the passenger side.
The vehicle accelerated in reverse about 10 to 20 feet, striking a woman in the knee, knocking her backward and almost hitting two other people.
The vehicle, a black 2007 Chrysler Pacfica, was registered to Aviles, who police learned had a suspended driver’s license.
Aviles left at a high rate of speed.
The woman was treated for her knee pain and cleared on scene by Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS.
Aviles faces charges on three counts of aggravated assault - attempts to cause or causes bodily injury with deadly weapon, and one count each of simple assault and driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked.
Aviles was released on $50,000 cash bail, and had a preliminary hearing Friday before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
