The number crunching continues as Northern Lehigh School District pieces together its 2023-2024 budget.
Sherri Molitoris, director of business affairs, business & human resources officer, gave an update at Monday’s school board meeting.
“Our finance committee meeting last Monday night, we did take our first look at our budget for the 2023-2024 school year,” Molitoris said. “It continues to be a working document that we are updating as we go through the process of retirees and other increases that we are made aware of, electricity costs, our gas and fuel bids have not come in yet, so as all of them become available, we will continue to update that document.”
Molitoris said the board will be reviewing it again at its next finance committee meeting.
“We will also do a presentation at the May board meeting,” she said. “We will then look for approval for the preliminary budget to be approved at that May board meeting, with a final approval at our June board meeting.”
Last June, the school board on a 5-4 vote adopted the 2022-2023 general fund final budget of $37,831,914, which called for a 2.5% increase in the property tax rates.
