State police at Frackville

State police at Frackville said three vehicles were damaged in crashes at 4:05 a.m. April 5 on Interstate 81 in Delano Township.

Police said it happened when Neftali De Los Santos Florencio, 23, of Hazleton, driving a Honda CRV northbound felt fatigued and lost control of the vehicle, striking the guide rail along the west berm. A secondary crash occurred when a Freightliner driven by Richard Slipkovich, 61, of Covington, Georgia, swerved to avoid striking the Honda but struck the guide rail along the west berm, then pulled into the path of a Kenworth tractor trailer driven by Gerald Blount, 53, of Edmond, Oklahoma, which struck the Freightliner.

Police said the driver of the Honda was transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency and Rescue Squad to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. They said he sustained suspected minor injuries.

All three vehicles sustained disabling damages and needed to be towed from the scene.

Police said De Los Santos Florencio was cited.

• State police at Fogelsville responded to a one-vehicle crash at 11:16 a.m. March 24 on King’s Highway South, Upper Milford Township, and ended up citing two persons, including a 33-year-old Kunkletown man.

Police said the driver of the Subaru Impreza who was identified on scene did not have a valid driver’s license. They said the status of the driver was listed as “suspended.”

In addition, a passenger was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and was arrested.

Police said the second person in the vehicle was a 32-year-old Whitehall man, but they did not say which one was facing which charges.

They also said the victim of the incident is a 65-year-old woman from Zionsville.

• Two people were injured in a one-vehicle crash at 6:10 a.m. March 30 in Franklin Township on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

State police at Pocono said Ana Collado, 44, of Jim Thorpe, the driver of the vehicle, and Eslyne Santana, 25, of Allentown, a passenger, were transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem. Police said the extent of their injuries is unknown.

Police said Collado was driving a Honda Accord that veered off the road near mile marker 77.8, striking a guide rail. They said the operator attempted to steer back into her lane of travel at which time the Accord rolled onto its roof.

• State police at Pocono said one vehicle was damaged in a crash at 8:24 p.m. March 21 in East Penn Township on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Police said a Hyundai Sonata driven by Alexa M. Schwartz, 23, of Lebanon, received minor damage. Police said damages to the other vehicle, which they did not identify, nor its operator, are unknown.

Police said the Sonata and the other vehicle were stopped in the southbound lanes at mile marker 72.1 when the other vehicle’s operator began to back up for an unknown reason. The vehicle struck the driver’s side door of the Sonata.

Police said the other vehicle left the scene.

• Mohamed J. Mohamed, 27, of Hopkins, Michigan, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:44 p.m. March 26 on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.

State police at Frackville said he sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported by personnel from the Shenandoah Community Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.

Police said he was driving a Freightliner northbound when it veered across both lanes, left the road and struck a tree, rendering it disabled.

Mohamed was cited.

• State police at Frackville said a Ford Fusion struck a deer at 8 p.m. April 5 on Lafayette Avenue in Hometown, Rush Township.

Police said the vehicle was eastbound when the deer entered the road and was stuck by the vehicle, which moved to the right shoulder of the road after the impact. They said damages were minor.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was cited for operating a vehicle while privileges are suspended or revoked.

• State police at Frackville said the driver of a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck that crashed at 7:44 a.m. March 4 on Grier Avenue in Delano Township fled the scene.

Police said the vehicle was eastbound when the operator lost control while attempting to negotiate a right-hand curve. The vehicle struck a guard rail on the westbound lane shoulder, shearing it almost completely off.

• No one was injured in a crash that happened at 4:43 p.m. April 4 on Summer Valley Road in East Brunswick Township. State police at Frackville investigated.

Police said the driver of one of the vehicles is unknown while the second vehicle, a Yamaha, was driven by Elijah D. Hoptak, 23, of Saint Clair, who was injured.

Police did not provide any details of the incident.
