Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported on the following crashes on the Northeast extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• The driver of a 2010 Honda SUV that crashed at 5:35 a.m. March 30 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike was airlifted to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, after the crash.

Police said it happened at mile marker 77.9 in Franklin Township.

Police said the vehicle traveled off the roadway, struck a guide rail off the west shoulder and rolled over, coming to rest in the left lane of traffic.

Police said a female passenger in the vehicle was transported to an area hospital by ground by EMS personnel.

• Two drivers of commercial vehicles that were involved in a crash on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike were uninjured.

At 4:25 p.m. March 24 in Kidder Township, police said a 2018 Freightliner operated by Julian Arroyo, 64, of Philipsburg, struck the rear of a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek driven by William E. Krantz Jr., 80, of White Haven.

Krantz had merged into the left lane. Arroyo told police he did not see the slow moving vehicle ahead of his rig before the impact.

Both vehicles had moderate damages and were towed from the scene, police said.

• John M. McDermott Jr., 39, of Saylorsburg, was cited by state police at the King of Prussia barracks for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 10:30 a.m. April 1 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2020 Nissan Altima southbound near mile marker 44.3 in Milford Township, Bucks County, when it left the roadway, traveled down an embankment and struck a ditch.

The car sustained disabling damages and needed to be towed from the scene.

• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 10:51 a.m. March 25 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, mile marker 83 in Penn Forest Township.

State police said Charles R. Pearsall, 24, of Robesonia, was driving a 2018 Audi northbound when it struck a concrete barrier on the right shoulder, traveled back onto the roadway and struck a concrete median.

The car had disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
