Shimkus finishes with a team-high 13 points. The North gains the winning points with 22 seconds left to play when Tamaqua’s Cindy Miller hits a pair of free throws. Miller finishes the contest with eight points. In the boys game, Tamaqua’s Bob Boyle tallies 20 points to help the North roll to a 115-82 victory. Panther Valley’s Phil Zuber also contributes 12 points.
