Local roundup: Results from March 18

The Lehighton and Jim Thorpe baseball teams posted victories on Saturday.

The Northern Lehigh softball and Pleasant Valley girls lacrosse teams also picked up victories.

BASEBALL

Lehighton-No. Lehigh

Lehighton rolled to a 15-3 non-league win over Northern Lehigh.

Noah Barndt had three hits, including two doubles, and five RBIs for the Indians (1-1). Ian Rarick had four stolen bases to go along with three hits, two runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Brady O’Donnell had two hits, a pair of RBIs and two runs scored with one stolen base. Aidan Albert started and struck out six while scattering four hits over four innings of work to earn the win on the mound.

Reese Lipsky had a hit, an RBI and a run scored for the Bulldogs (0-1).

Rich Strack had a big day on the mound and at the plate to lead Jim Thorpe to an 8-4 win over Shenandoah Valley.

Strack tossed six solid innings, striking out seven and scattering five hits while allowing one run and two walks for the Olympians (1-0). He went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Chip Baldassano (run scored), Ian Henkels (RBI) and Nikolas Schwartz (RBI, run scored) all had two hits apiece in the win, while Owen Hubbard doubled and Garrett Lienhard tripled with an RBI and had two runs scored.

Nicholas Ryan had two hits and an RBI with a run scored for the Blue Devils (0-1) – who scored all of their runs in the final two innings – while Brady Najda added a double.

SOFTBALL

Lehighton-No. Lehigh

A four-run fifth inning lifted Northern Lehigh to a 6-5 non-league win over Lehighton.

Jordyn Hemingway singled to score Haylie Fenstermaker to tie the game at 3-3. Cadence Peters doubled to score Marisa Maehrer and give the Bulldogs (1-0) a 4-3 lead. Kaitlyn Stock singled to plate Hemingway and make it 5-3, before Grace Bauer singled to score Peters and make it 6-3.

Peters finished 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs. Maehrer and Hemingway (RBI) each collected two hits with two runs scored.

The Indians (0-2) rallied with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. Abbie Miller tripled to score Mylah Delgado before Addison Chavanic singled to score A. Miller to make it 6-5 before a ground out ended the inning. Makayla Scott finished with two hits and an RBI for the Tribe.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Crestwood-Pleasant Valley

Rylee Rath scored nine goals to help Pleasant Valley secure a 15-12 win over Crestwood.

Rath added three assists in the win for the Bears (1-0). Olivia Iandoli had two goals and three assists, while Alivia Rath also scored two goals.

Isabella Caporuscio had eight goals for Crestwood.
