Children fill library to celebrate Dr. Seuss

Bright-eyed and eager to learn, many young children filled the Slatington Public Library earlier this month to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

Library board treasurer Lynne Fedorcha read some lively books to the captive audience who enjoyed the readings as well as coloring activities, refreshments, and a goody bag for home, according to board secretary Renee Evans.

Additionally, Evans said the patrons received a Dr. Seuss certificate, stickers, and a raffle ticket for Dr. Seuss books, with six lucky winning tickets drawn during the program.

“Many parents snapped their child’s pictures at the Thing 1 and Thing 2 photo cutouts,” Evans said. “All in all, 30 children, 23 adults, and five volunteers continue to support the endeavors of the library who were in attendance at the Dr. Seuss event.”

Evans added that the Slatington Public Library “relishes” in offering programs such as Dr. Seuss and the upcoming Preschool Story Hour beginning March 21 for six consecutive Tuesdays at 11 a.m.
