PTO meeting

The Pleasant Valley Elementary PTO is slated to meet at 4 p.m. today.

Polk planners meet

The Polk Township Planning Commission is scheduled to meet tonight 6:30 p.m. at the township’s municipal building.

Lenten services

Effort UMC continues its Lenten study which is held in Wesley Hall with a time of fellowship being held from 5:30 to 5:45 p.m. with soup and salad. The study will begin at 5:45 p.m. and go through 6:45 p.m.

The Lenten service begins at 7 p.m.

Children & youth can participate in a Lenten program specifically geared to their age group (ages 3-18) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. during the Lenten season. It will continue for five weeks.

St. Peter’s UMC has announced the theme of its Lenten studies which began on March 1: Who do You say I am?

The evening begins with a carry-in (potluck) supper at 6 p.m. The service begins at 7 p.m.

The 6-week study will be led by Pastor Zabdiel Khan based on a question Jesus asked of his disciples:

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is hosting tonight’s multi-church Lenten service at 7 p.m., with Pastor Suzanne Brooks-Cope preaching.

There will be no meal before worship this year but churches are welcome to provide a social hour afterward.

Church offering envelopes received will be forwarded to their respective churches. Loose offerings received will go to the host church.

In case of inclement weather, the host church will place a cancellation notice on their respective answering machine and post an announcement on their Facebook page.

Next Wednesday’s service will be held at Salem UCC in Gilbert.

Father Bob is hosting a Lenten series of dinner and a program at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, Wednesdays, from March 1 through the end of Lent. They will continue to be held every Wednesday during Lent.

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is hosting a Lenten service tonight at 7 p.m., focusing on the Stations of the Cross.

Eldred planners

The Eldred Township Planning Commission is slated to meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the municipal building on Kunkletown Road.

Call the township to verify said meeting at 610-381-4252.

Legion Auxiliary

Post 927 Legion Auxiliary is slated to meet at 7 p.m. at the Legion in Gilbert.

Gilbert TaxAide help

Salem United Church of Christ in Gilbert, continues to host the volunteers for the TaxAide Program from 9 a.m. to noon, Thursdays.

One can sign up for help at the site and taxes will be prepared in the order of sign-ups.

Pizza deadline

McMichaels UMC is again holding a pizza sale. Orders must be placed by tomorrow by calling M. Stout at 570-992-6742.

Said order can be picked up at the church Saturday, March 18, by 10 a.m.

Dinner served

West End Missions is serving its next dinner at 4:30 p.m., tomorrow, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Brodheadsville.

PV Board

The Pleasant Valley School Board is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Administration Building.

Breakfast served

McMichaels UMC is hosting a donation-only breakfast on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m.

It includes a complete breakfast and beverages.

Special entertainment will be provided.

SFRC pantry

The Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. It helps feed families having need, that are not eligible for local, county or state programs and serves the communities of Albrightsville, Blakeslee, Brodheadsville, Effort, Gilbert, Kunkletown, Kresgeville, Saylorsburg, and Sciota on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

The SFRC could use donations of canned soups, vegetables and pasta during the month of March.

Maple Sugaring

Monroe County Conservation District’s EE Center Environmental Educators are conducting a program about maple sugaring from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at Delaware State Forest’s Meesing outdoor site in Marshalls Creek.

There is a cost and attendees will finish the tour with a stop at the pancake station where they will get to taste the finished product served over freshly made pancakes. Also, fresh maple syrup and candy will be available for purchase and take home.

Breakfast held

Effort UMC will host a Fellowship Breakfast from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Riders meeting

The Chapter 927 American Legion Riders group will hold its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m., Sunday.
