Man had warrants, large amount of drugs

A Lansford man with active arrest warrants has been charged with possessing large amounts of drugs.

At 4:46 a.m. Tuesday, Callen Rich of the Lansford Police Department conducted a warrant service and saw Joshua Tessitore, 37, wearing a large jacket with a red hooded sweatshirt underneath and a black backpack, shoveling the sidewalk on W. Ridge Street.

Knowing Tessitore, 37, had active arrest warrants, Rich requested help from officer Christopher Fischi of the Summit Hill Police Department.

Police searched Tessitore, who said he had two brass knuckles, needles, and “meth” in his pockets. Police also found methamphetamine and a scale.

Inside his pocket, a black pouch containing a drug kit was found, with multiple packets of a white powdered substance consistent with fentanyl, including wrapped orange pills. Green pills in an unlabeled prescription container and syringes were located in his jacket.

Tessitore kept claiming that his life was over, and when asked why, he kept saying he had “weight” on him, which is indicative to a large amount of drugs. Inside the backpack, police found a large amount of crystalline substance was located, consistent with bulk methamphetamine. A green leafy substance consistent with marijuana, a scale, multiple plastic bags for distribution, and syringes.

Drugs seized included suspected methamphetamine of about 647 grams; suspected fentanyl/heroin of about 1.8 grams; suspected crack cocaine of about 6.8 grams; suspected marijuana of about 1.3 grams; suspected alprazolam quantity, 40 pills; and suspected unknown orange pill quantity, 27.

Tessitore faces charges on six counts of possession with intent to deliver; four counts of possession of controlled or counterfeit substance; two counts of prohibited offensive weapon; and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled substance or other drug that had been adultered or misbranded.

He is incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing March 15 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.
