March 4, 2005 - Panther Valley freshman Allysa Vavra breaks a record in winning the 200 Individual Medley and also earns another gold medal as part of the 200 Medley Relay team on the first day of the District 11 Class 2A Swim Championships at Parkland. Vavra posts a time of 2:03.69 in the IM to shatter the old mark of 2:13.24. She also teams with Amanda Terray, Megan Kusko and Dorothy Terray in the medley relay to post a time of 1:52.26, which sets another district record. Tamaqua’s Eileen Gurcsik and Adrian Bumbulsky both capture silver medals, with Gurcsik taking second in the 50 freestyle and Bumbulsky ending runner-up in the 100 butterfly.
