Letter to the Editor: Lansford-Coaldale Water Authority feedback

Dear Editor,

I would like to address the Times News Letter to the Editor of Feb. 4, 2023, from Len Sniscak as my name was mentioned in the article.

First, in January, 2015, Mr. Sniscak submitted an application to the Borough of Lansford for a position on the Lansford-Coaldale Water Authority. The letter was not acted on and Sniscak withdrew the application in February (information from borough minutes).

Second, regarding the “jaw-dropping” information Sniscak received from Bruce Markovich regarding action taken by members of the 2015 Lansford Borough Council, which included me, it is erroneous. The joint water authority was formed in 1950. In 1990, in connection with an application for a PENNVEST loan application by the authority, it was necessary to extend their charter. This was done at the time for 50 years. The charter runs until 2040. This information was received by me from Tobias Krajcirik, former water authority board member. Those interested, it can be verified by a Right-to-Know application.

Therefore, as I was not elected until January 1994, I had nothing to do with council business in 1990. President Bruce Markovich stated that we (the others named for 2015 borough council) created the biggest blunders in Lansford Council history. I believe due to the actual facts presented, we are due an apology from Mr. Markovich. I know I want one.

Sincerely,

Rose Mary Cannon

Lansford
