Grant helps Chestnuthill demolish structures

Chestnuthill Township is working with a grant it received from Monroe County.

“There are separate grant agreements for properties that we acquired off the repository list that had abandoned structures on them. ... I think it is mortgages that are recorded and deeds, there’s a fee that’s associated with that,” said David Albright, Chestnuthill Township’s manger.

There are eight projects for the township, requiring demolition of a structure on each and clearing the property.

“Monroe County has authorized $42,000 over the course of those eight projects,” Albright said.

Most of the properties are in the Sun Valley section of the township.

The next item on the agenda was EFR Singer requesting a drawdown from the project done on Free Will Road for $63,006. That would leave the remaining amount of $19,001 for paving in the spring and things of that nature.

Chris McDermott, the engineer consultant for Chestnuthill Township, has agreed with the drawdown amount and made a motion to approve the amounts passed.
