February 9, 1974 - After Jim Thorpe rallies to force overtime, Northwestern uses a strong extra period to gain a 51-42 victory. The Olympians trail by five points with three minutes to play and eventually tie the game on Charlie McGuire’s free throw with four seconds left in regulation. The Tigers, however, outscore Thorpe by a 13-4 margin to earn the win. Five different NW players record baskets during OT, with Mark Bricker hitting a pair. Al Hill finishes with a double-double for the Tigers, coached by Nick Drsnock, scoring 14 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Jeff Kohler adds 12 points, and Bricker ends with 10.
