All residents in the houses north of Williams Street in Slatington are advised to boil their water until further notice.

Borough manager Dan Stevens said a pipe broke late Tuesday afternoon when firefighters connected to a water line to fight a fire on Welshtown Road in Washington Township.

Stevens said the residents north of Williams Street still had water from the time the pipe broke until Wednesday morning when water stored in a tank ran low.

The pipe is fixed, and water service is restored, but the water has to undergo testing before it can be cleared for safe drinking.
