Blue Mtn. Resort to unveil new ski lift Saturday

Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton will unveil its new lift, the Main Street Express, on Saturday.

A ribbon cutting will be held at 9:45 a.m. with brief remarks from Jim Dailey, general manager.

There will also be a DJ on-site, as well as giveaways throughout the day.

The Main Street Express will replace two double lifts, improving access to the terrain on the western part of the mountain.

Main Street Express will transport riders from bottom to top in under five minutes and can accommodate 3,000 passengers per hour.

For guests who want the chance to be the first to ride Main Street Express, Blue Mountain will be collecting $10 donations for the USO (United Services Organization). Six people will be selected.

Ashley Seier, director of marketing for Blue Mountain Resort, said that despite the warmer temperatures this season, attendance has been strong at Blue Mountain Resort.

“Since opening for skiing on Nov. 25, Blue Mountain has provided the most open skiable trails and acres in the region,” Seier said. “In addition to the new lift, we’ve added nighttime Sonic Snow Tubing, and enhanced our snowmaking.”

Blue Mountain Resort is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets and rentals can be purchased online at www.skibluemt.com.
