Northwestern was the only area wrestling team to capture a win on Wednesday.

WRESTLING

Northwestern-Bangor

Five straight wins, four of them pins, helped Northwestern pull out a 37-30 Colonial League victory over Bangor.

The Tigers received falls from Luke Fugazzotto (160), Dalton Clymer (172), Jackson Bailey (189) and Dartanyon DeLillo (285), while Lucas Miller added a major decision at 215. That accounted for 28 consecutive points to help Northwestern improve to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the league.

The winners also received a pin from Hunter Greenawalt (139) and a decision from Nathan Geiger (133).

North Schuylkill-Tamaqua

Six of North Schuylkill’s seven wins came via the pin and the Spartans held off Tamaqua for a 41-29 Schuylkill League victory.

The Raiders took six of the 13 bouts wrestled, receiving three falls, two majors and a decision.

Jacob Hehn (189), Levi Kunkel (106) and Gabe Erbe (120) accounted for Tamaqua’s pins, while Stephen Kieffer (152) and Jacob Schlier (160)earned the major decisions.

North Schuylkill improved to 3-1, while the Raiders fell to 4-4.

Lehighton-Pottsville

Pottsville dominated the middle weights to help gain a 44-26 Schuylkill League victory over Lehighton.

The Crimson Tide won six straight weight classes from 121 to 152 - four by fall - and added a forfeit win at 160 to claim the match.

The Indians received pins from Brok Solt (172) and Wyatt Sherer (215), while Aidan Gruber (114) added a technical fall.

Pottsville is now 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the league. Lehighton dropped to 6-1 and 2-1.

Blue Mountain-Jim Thorpe

Blue Mountain recorded nine pins in gaining a 64-9 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.

Five of the falls - from Cole Fry (107), Colin Seefeldt (114), Bryce Bodenberg (121), Kaden Brish (133) and Payton Fasnacht (145) - came in the first period.

For Thorpe, Christopher Jacobacci posted a decision win at 121.

The Eagles are now 7-2, while Thorpe dropped to 5-3.

Catasauqua used four pins and three forfeits to help gain a 51-12 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.

The Bulldogs’ points came on a pair of falls, as Austin Rex posted a pin at 133 and Chase Moffitt did likewise at 172.

The Roughies are 5-0, while Nolehi is 0-6.

Weatherly-Marian

Weatherly rolled to a 35-18 victory over Marian.

The Wreckers built a 31-4 lead and cruised the rest of the way.

Chase Grier and Chance Stauffer both scored 10 points for Weatherly, while the Colts’ Kaden Krajcirik topped all scorers with 11 points.

JR. HIGH GIRLS

8TH GRADE

Marian-Weatherly

Gabby Osenbach scored 14 points to lead Marian to a 33-11 victory over Weatherly.

The Fillies also received 10 points from Brooke Hannis-Miskar, while Mya Binder paced the Wreckers with six.

Tamaqua-Panther Valley

Tamaqua’s Lauren Ligenza scored 23 points to lead the Blue Raiders to a 28-22 victory over Panther Valley.

The Panthers received seven points from Lucy Kocha and six from Callie Kosciolek.

7TH GRADE

Tamaqua-Panther Valley

Tamaqua posted a 40-13 victory over Panther Valley.

Joelle Zelonis scored 12 points for the Raiders, who also received 10 points from Elaina Coleman.

For the Panthers, Kaylee Rodriguez finished with six points.
