Municipal liens filed

Jim Thorpe Borough, 101 E. 10th St., has filed a municipal lien against Douglas C. Roat, 1206 Center Ave., Jim Thorpe. The borough is seeking $1,111.89 for unpaid sewer bill from Jan. 21, 2013, to June 21, 2021.

The borough also filed a municipal lien against William and Maria Rieck, 1145 Broadview Drive, Jim Thorpe. The borough is seeking $395.75 for a unpaid garbage bill from May 4, 2021, to June 30, 2022.

A lien filed by the borough against Caroline M. Nannay, 221 South St., Jim Thorpe, seeks $1,569.73 owed it for an unpaid garbage bill for the period of Dec. 19, 2017, to June 30, 2022.

Michael Brooks and Lillian J. Novy, Elliotsburg, have been named defendants of a lien filed against them over a property at 226 Center Ave., Jim Thorpe. The borough is seeking $626.40 owed it for an unpaid garbage bill from Nov. 30, 2020, to June 30, 2022.

The borough filed a lien against John K. Dever, 54 Coal St., Jim Thorpe, seeking $3,048.29 for an unpaid garbage bill from Aug. 29, 2018, to June 30, 2022.

A lien against Jacqueline M. DeMarco, 43 W. Sixth St., Jim Thorpe, seeks $1,087.94 for an unpaid garbage bill from March 29, 2018, to June 30, 2022,

A second lien filed against DeMarco seeks $1,228.59 for an unpaid garbage bill for the same period.

A lien against Carol L. Loyd, Blairstown, New Jersey, seeks $479.19 for an unpaid garbage bill for the period of Nov. 30, 2019, to Nov. 19, 2012, for a property at 311 W. Broadway.

A lien filed against David and Stacy Kroculick, 19 W. Fifth St., Jim Thorpe, seeks $451.57 for an unpaid garbage bill for the period of March 31, 2021, to June 20, 2022.

The final lien is against Deborah M. Truscello, 434 Dew Drop Drive, Jim Thorpe, seeking $453.25 for an unpaid garbage bill for the period of April 30, 2011, to June 30, 2022.

The judgment is in the amount of $3,731.62 and was ordered on March 30, 2022, by Senior Magisterial District Judge Ronald Swank of Pocono Pines.

Midland Credit Management, Inc., Catonsville, filed a judgment against Kevin Miller, 245 Summit Drive, Albrightsville.

The judgment is in the amount of $2,904.08 and was ordered on March 30 by MDH Swank.

Midland Credit Management Inc., Philadelphia, filed a judgment in its favor against Joshua Paulshock, 80 New St., Beaver Meadows.

The judgment is in the amount of $1,503.17 and was ordered on July 12, 2022, by MDJ Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Beaver Meadows.

Kenneth A. Bell, Trexlertown, filed a judgment in its favor against Stephen Kelhart and Paige Kromer, 224 Delaware Ave., Apt. 1, Palmerton.

The judgment is in the amount of $1,152.95 and was ordered On Jan. 25, 2018, by MDJ Kissner.

Complaint in ejectment

The Bank of America, Plano, Texas, has filed a complaint in ejectment against Carol E. Furmanchin, 58 Spring St., Weatherly.

The plaintiff states it secured ownership of the property on Spring Street through a sheriff’s sale held earlier this year and the defendant has refused to deliver possession of the property.

The Bank of America is asking the court to order a judgment of possession in its favor.

Assessment decisions appealed

Split Rock Investments. LLC, Lake Harmony, has appealed a decision rendered by the Carbon County Board of Assessment Appeals over properties located at or around Moseywood Road in Lake Harmony.

The plaintiff contends it sought a reduction of the assessment of $2,724.458 at a hearing on Oct. 28, 2022, but the assessment board did not lower the assessed value of the premises but instead maintained an assessed value that was in excess of the premises’ fair market value.

Cedar Realty Investments LLC, Mount Carmel, has appealed a decision rendered by the assessment board for property located on Market Street in Franklin Township.

The plaintiff contends it sought a reduction of the assessment of $6,750 but the board kept it the same following a hearing in October.

Cedar Realty also appealed without success the value of $61,538 placed on a property on Long Run Road that the board did not change after a hearing.

Irene and Denise Leibensperger, 164 W. Ridge St., Lansford, have appealed the board decision on the assessed values of properties at 162 W. Ridge St. and 157 W. Patterson St.

The assessment on the property at 162 was lowered from $56,270 to $40,049 after the appeals hearing while the assessment of the property at 157 was kept the same at $11,685.

Care HSL Heritage Hill Propco, L.P., Carmel, Indiana, has appealed a decision rendered by the board over property located at 800 Sixth St., Weatherly.

The plaintiff contends it sought a reduction of the assessment of $1,605,839 at a hearing in October but the assessment board did not lower the assessed value of the premises.

Scott M. Wolfe and April L. Fisher, 4461 Lehigh Drive, Walnutport, have appealed a decision of the board for a property at 3-5 W. White St., Summit Hill.

The plaintiffs contend the appeals board erred setting the assessed value of the property at $44,903, contending it should be $29,845.

Mortgage foreclosure

Loancare, LLC, Virginia Beach, Virginia, has filed a mortgage foreclosure complaint against Susan A. Williams, 775 Edgemont Ave., Palmerton, over a property at that address.

Sought is judgment in the amount of $45,848.98, plus interest, costs and attorney’s fees.

License suspensions appealed

Seth Steber, 265 Pine Cove Court, Lehighton, has appealed the suspension of his driver’s license by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation.

Steber was noticed on Nov. 7, 2022, that his license is suspended because he refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test after he was stopped on Oct. 29, 2022, by Franklin Township police, who arrested him for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Joseph T. Sawyer III, Scranton, has appealed the suspension of his driver’s license by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation.

He was notified by PennDOT on Oct. 31, 2022, that his license is suspended for refusing to submit to chemical testing after he was stopped on Oct. 23, 2022.
