Slatington under water boil advisory after water line break

Slatington Borough has issued a boil water advisory for all residences and businesses from Williams Street north until further notice. This includes the area of the high school.

Borough Manager Dan Stevens said a water line broke this morning on Kuehner Avenue. Water service completely stopped with the breakage.

The line is now repaired and is being flushed, then service will be restored, but the water must be boiled.

The borough is required by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to do water testing and have two clean water samples 24 hours apart.

The samples have to be verified by DEP. Once the water is verified as clean, then the advisory can be lifted.

Stevens doesn’t know how long it will take to get the advisory lifted, but estimates it might not be until Monday or Tuesday.
