NL announces Ring of Honor inductees

On Tuesday, Jan. 10 before the wrestling match with Salisbury, Northern Lehigh High School will be inducting its latest team and individuals into the Ring of Honor.

Following are the inductees for this year’s class:

Jeremy Dogmanits

Jeremy Dogmanits is a 1995 Northern Lehigh High School graduate and a PIAA State Championship wrestler at 112 pounds.

Dogmanits won the 2A State Championship in 1995 with an overall record of 35-2. That season, Dogmanits defeated Ibarra of Bedford 11-5 in Round 1. In the quarterfinals, he pinned Alderson from Grove City in 5 minute 31 seconds. Dogmanits defeated Waldron of Loyalsock on a rideout in the semifinals and then claimed PIAA gold by beating Ziegler of Saucon Valley 5-2 in the finals.

Dogmanits was a PIAA silver medalist in 1994. He finished his wrestling career with a 104-15 record.

Jared Herzog

Jared Herzog is a 2001 Northern Lehigh High School graduate and a 2000 PIAA State Chamionship wrestler at 103 pounds. He won the 2A State Championship with an overall record of 32-5 that year.

At States, Herzog defeated Fithian of Springfield Township 18-3 in 2 minutes and 21 seconds in Round 1. In the quarterfinals, he decisioned Kendall from Reynolds 14-10. Herzog defeated Metzgar of Westmont Hilltop 5-4 in the semifinals and then claimed PIAA gold by beating Makara of Burrell 4-3 in the finals.

Herzog also finished 4th in the state in 1999 and 2nd in 2001.

Ivan Rosario

Ivan Rosario is a 1991 Northern Lehigh High School graduate and a PIAA State Chamionship wrestler at 125 pounds in his senior season. He won the 2A State Championship that year with an overall record of 31-4.

Rosario defeated Maluchnik of North Star 10-2 in Round 1 of the State Tournament. In the quarterfinals, he pinned Sonnes from Hughesville in 1 minute 50 seconds. Rosario defeated Kirkpatrick of Redbank Valley 7-1 in the semifinals and then claimed PIAA gold by beating Fasnact of Pine Grove in overtime in the finals.

Rosario also received a PIAA bronze medal in 1990.

Rosario was instrumental with the Northern Lehigh Junior High program by coaching the junior high team in their inaugural season and continued to coach the junior high team through 1993.

1985 Wrestling Team

Northern Lehigh High School’s 1985 2A State Championship wrestling team is also being inducted.

The 1985 team scored 53.5 points to defeat 2nd place Athens, 3rd place Susquenita, 4th place Pine Grove and 5th place Southern Columbia. The Bulldogs earned points with silver medals by Larry Rehrig at 126 and Don Evans at 185. John Chang had a 4th place finish at 105. Northern Lehigh led the state tournament that season with four pins in a combined time of 8 minutes and 24 seconds.

Members of that state championship team were, Trevin Berger, Trent Reinsmith, Scott Oncheck, John Chang, Mark Mengoni, Mark Brensinger, Ron Heller, Brent Herzog, Larry Rehrig, Steve Todd, Russell Diefenderfer, Bill Mack, Tim Robb, Dru Neirer, Wilmer Dise, Don Evans, Mike Kistler and Brian Snyder. Bob Kern was the head coach and Charlie Cunfer was his assistant.
