Pennsylvania State Police in Bethlehem are investigating a gift card scam.

Police were called to a residence on Memorial Road in Heidelberg Township, Lehigh County for a 72-year-old woman who told them she received an email from Paypal with a $450 request.

She contacted the phone number to dispute the charge and was directed to purchase gift cards to counteract the “fraud” related to her personnel credit card accounts.

She purchased $3,000 worth of gift cards and provided their pin numbers.
