Lansford Alive, a community improvement organization known for promoting town spirit and encouraging commerce, is working to preserve “a great old piece of history,” a two-story stone structure built in the late 1800s as a jail at East Patterson and Walnut streets.

The “lock-up” originally housed three cells on the first floor and borough council chambers on the second floor.

The building was purchased from Joseph and Dawn Orsulak in 2009 by Lansford Alive, utilizing a PA Department of Community and Economic Development Legislative Initiative grant secured for it by Speaker of the House Keith R. McCall.
