Tree lighting ceremony is Friday in Slatington

The Slatington Tree Lighting Ceremony is Friday.

The Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce will present the event from 5-7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 509 Main St.

Free and open to the public, the event will include live music and performances, craft vendors, food trucks, complimentary hot chocolate and more.

“This is a time-honored tradition in Northern Lehigh” said Kylie Adams-Weiss, assistant vice president of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “After being distanced in 2020 and coming back in person in 2021, we’re looking to be fully back and enjoying holiday festivities together as a community in 2022.”

Before the event, attendees are encouraged to stop by the Slatington Library for stories with Mrs. Claus.

At 5:15 p.m., there will be a Candy Cane Hunt in Veterans Memorial Park, followed by a visit from Olaf & Elsa from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

From 5-7 p.m., there will be craft, nonprofit & business vendors in Veterans Memorial Park; food for purchase from Why Not Burgerz Food Truck; complimentary hot chocolate (sponsored by Nancy and Bob Treskot); complimentary hot dogs (provided by the Boy Scouts); giveaways at the Chamber booth and food collection for Northern Lehigh Food Bank.

At 6 p.m., there will be Rhythm & Sole Dance Performances

Santa’s arrival and the tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Opportunities to take pictures with Santa will be available for those in attendance once the tree is lit.

The event will also host a food drive that will benefit the Northern Lehigh Food Bank, and visitors are encouraged to bring a canned good or non-perishable to donate to those in need.

“The holidays remind us that the spirit of giving is alive and well, and the chamber likes to ensure that we are helping others in the community,” said Jessica O’Donnell-Gower, executive vice president of Affiliated Chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “We’re hoping that by giving back to those in need, we can keep the holiday spirit thriving in Northern Lehigh.”
