Senior Center

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of Nov. 21-23 is as follows:

Monday: Tomato soup, cheeseburger macaroni casserole, vegetable blend, pudding or salad with chicken

Tuesday: Turkey and gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans, pumpkin mousse or beef and cheese sandwich

Wednesday: Cheeseburger, potato wedges, broccoli and cauliflower, cookie or chicken pita

Thursday: Center closed

Friday: Center closed

The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced upcoming events for Nov. Nov. 18-23.

Movie and Popcorn on Nov. 18 at 10 a.m.

Po-Keeno on Nov. 21 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on Nov. 22 at 10:45 a.m.; Game Day on Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. The center will be closed on Nov. 24 and 25 in observance of Thanksgiving.

New members always welcome.

Hometown Hero Banners

The Nesquehoning Veterans Banner program is now open for 2023.

If you would like to purchase a banner, applications are available at the VFW Post Home at 300 E. Center St.

Also if you purchased a banner to be displayed in 2020, 2021 or 2022, renewal applications were mailed to the sponsor of the banner and the retired banner may be picked up at the post home on or after Nov. 28.

The deadline to purchase a new banner or renewal is Jan. 13, 2023.

Historical Society

The Summit Hill Historical Society, located at 1 W. Hazard St., will hold an open house/Christmas Party to celebrate its 25th anniversary on Dec. 14. Free Range Folk will present a concert at 7 p.m.

The museum will open at 6 p.m. for browsing and after the concert for refreshments. This is a free venue. Snow date is Dec. 15.

Panther Valley seniors

The Panther Valley Senior Citizens met on Nov. 14 with 22 members in attendance. President Diane Gould opened the meeting with the reading “With Me Every Day.”

The group Christmas party will be held on Dec. 11 at 12:30 p.m. DiMaggio’s in Tamaqua.

The next meeting is Nov 28. The group meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 1 p.m. at the St. Ann Senior Apartments, Lansford. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.
