Monroe County incidents

State police at Stroudsburg released information about the following incidents:

• A man was charged with harassment by physical contact after an incident that followed a first date.

Police said they were called to the Baymont Inn and Suites, Hamilton Township, for a report that an altercation had occurred.

Police said the investigation revealed a man and woman met there for a first date from an online dating service, and an argument ensued resulting in the man harassing the woman by means of physical contact, resulting in the citation being issued.

• A 59-year-old man from Emerson, New Jersey, was charged for public drunkenness after an incident at 2:02 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Blue Ridge Flea Market in Hamilton Township.

Police said they were summoned there for a report of a man creating an annoyance to vendors on the premises and upon arrival found the man to be in a highly-intoxicated state on public property.

• A 2020 Chevrolet Equinox was disabled in a crash at 3:24 p.m. Oct. 18 on Lower Cherry Valley Road in Hamilton Township.

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks said Diane B. Riddle, 73, of Stroudsburg, was driving the vehicle eastbound when it veered off the shoulder of the road and struck a tree.

No one was injured.

• A 16-year-old Palmerton boy was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 5:49 p.m. Oct. 17 at the intersection of Milford and Seven Bridge roads in Smithfield Township.

Police said he was driving a 2015 Nissan Rogue north on Milford Road when he went through a red light as a 2005 Toyota Camry driven by Laura M. Massaro, 38, of East Stroudsburg, approached the intersection and was in the process of turning onto Seven Bridge Road. Police said the Rogue struck the right side of the Camry.

No one was hurt in the crash, police said.
