Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m., and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person or in the parking lot by tuning the radio station to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise.

October Missions:

Operation Christmas Child: This mission brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love.

ABC Food Pantry is available for those in need. Contact the church office if you are in a need of help or if you want to donate. Please drop off items in the church lobby.

The Micah Meal Program serving the needs of needy students in the Palmerton School District. Check the church website with a list of food items we need.

Jerusalem UCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, holds Sunday worship service in the church grove at 10 a.m. weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the sanctuary. Pastor Marion leads the worship.

You can also remain in your vehicle in the parking lot and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 or watch live on Facebook. The service is also posted on the website after the service.

Donations for Operation Christmas Child do not have to be put in a shoe box, you can just donate the items. If you would prefer to make a monetary donation, you can drop a check or envelope in the offering plate and mark it OCC. Examples of some acceptable items are small notebooks, crayons, pencils, balls, socks, personal care items, small stuffed animals. Please no food-type items, used items, war-related items, liquids or lotions. The deadline to donate is Nov. 6.

Holiday filling sale

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will be selling containers of homemade filling.

The last day to order is Nov. 5. Pick up at the church on Nov. 19 from noon to 3 p.m. or Nov. 20 after the church service between 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Basket Raffle & Bazaar

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold its Annual Basket Raffle & Bazaar on Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall. They will have baskets to raffle, baked goods, and holiday items. There will be food to eat or take out which includes homemade soup, hot dogs, barbeque, halushki, and beverages.

Holy Trinity Lutheran

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold worship on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. If you plan to attend, call the church office at 610-826-2525.

It you are unable to attend in person, you may join on Zoom. Communion will be served. Please remember to bring food items for the food pantry.

Bible Study is in Fellowship Hall on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

Church Bazaar

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold its Church Bazaar on Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will have crafts, jewelry, a lunch bag raffle, a raffle ticket (with many gift cards and prizes), and a white-elephant sale. There will also be a bake sale and food to purchase.

Participants sought

The Palmerton Veterans Day Parade Committee is issuing a call for floats, vendors, and participants for the 50th annual Carbon County Veterans Day Parade to be held in Palmerton Nov. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. with a rain date of Nov. 13.

Jerusalem Evangelical

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, is holding a Thanksgiving filling sale. Fresh made, not frozen. Orders are due by Nov. 6 and pickup is Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.

Trick-or-Treat

Trick or Treat in the Palmerton borough on Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. If you would like to participate in this fun event, please have your porch light on.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will have its doors open for Trick or Treat fun.

Trunk-or-Treat

Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat. They will provide the candy; you just decorate the trunk.

Decorate your trunks in the theme of your favorite Bible Story. They will be awarding prizes for the best trunks in multiple categories. The event will take place during Palmerton’s trick-or-treat event. Please be at the church by 4 p.m. to put your trunk together.

Train Meet

The Carbon Model Railroad Society is sponsoring its Fall Train Meet on Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meet will be held at the Diamond Fire Co. Bingo Hall.

The Hall is located at 120 Main St., Walnutport. This is a model railroad, toy train and railroadiana sale for the serious and amateur railroad and model train collector.

Refreshments are available. Plenty of free parking. Admission. Bring your entire family.

Bomber Toy Drive

During Senior Night on Oct. 28, the Football Parents Club is collecting new, unwrapped toys to be donated to Palmerton CACPAC for the holidays. 99% of these toys will stay in the Palmerton community.

Donation bins will be set up at the ticket booth. Thank you for your support.

Warmth for Winter Drive

Palmerton Kids for the Community is accepting new or gently used items only such as coats, scarves, hats, and gloves (all-weather proof only). Donations can be dropped off at 783 Princeton Ave., Palmerton.

Thanksgiving Filling Sale

The Aquashicola Vol. Fire Co., Little Gap Road, Palmerton will be holding a Pennsylvania Dutch potato filling sale again this year. Order by Nov. 14 by calling 610-826-2066; email AFD1@PTD.NET or see a member of the fire department.

Drive thru pickup, Nov. 23 after 7 p.m. or Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Containers are $10 each (9-inch container and can be frozen up to 3 months).

Proceeds will go toward the purchase of a $350,000 tank truck to ensure they are properly equipped to serve the community.

Self-defense class

Sacred Heart Pastoral Council is sponsoring a self-defense class presented by officer Shawn Leadbetter, Palmerton Police Department.

All are invited to the Palmerton Fire Department on Nov. 5 to participate. Presentation will include: classroom instruction regarding Police use of force law, how Police are trained in use of force and how it pertains to the everyday citizen, a question-and-answer session and hands-on-training regarding self-defense and how a citizen can protect themselves.

Basket Social & Bake sale

Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton, will hold a Basket Social & Bake Sale on Nov. 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Nov. 13 from noon to 3 p.m. The drawing will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday.

They will have food for sale including homemade pierogies, halushki, filling, apple dumplings and more.

Palmerton Food Pantry

The CACPAC sponsored Palmerton Food Pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Rd., Palmerton, Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The pantry supports residents of the Palmerton Area School District only and you will need to show proof of residency and answer questions regarding your income.

This is a drive-thru event, so please remain in your vehicle and follow instructions given by volunteers. If you are unable to attend, someone may pick up for you.

The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items, papers and personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at 459 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton.

A box will be on the porch for donations. Local churches collect on a regular basis.

Quilt Guild

The Sew What Quilt Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library on Nov. 4, at 10:30 a.m. New members and visitors are always welcome. They meet the first Friday of each month.

Nearly New Shop

Stop in at the Nearly New Shop, 225 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. They have adult coats and jackets, ladies dress jackets and men’s jackets, along with change of season jackets and winter jackets and coats.

The shop also has adult clothing, shoes, and purses, and children’s clothing.

The shop is open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Palmerton Area Library

Palmerton Area Library will have a handmade items auction from Oct. 31 until Nov. 19.

Drama Club

Looking ahead the Palmerton Area Drama Club will present Irving Berlin’s White Christmas the musical. It will be held Dec. 1, 2 and 3.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. and curtain will be at 7 p.m. It will be held in the Palmerton High School auditorium.

Knitting Club

The Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library on Nov. 7 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This is free and open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting of all skill levels.

They meet the first Monday of each month.

Blue Mountain Fiber Guild

The Blue Mountain Fiber Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library on Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. The group explores all thing related to fiber arts (spinning, weaving, etc.)

Check it out the first Tuesday of each month.
