Senior Frankie Morales and freshman Keely Lawrence were the top Pleasant Valley finishers in the boys and girls races at the East Penn Conference Cross Country championships on Tuesday at DeSales University.

Morales finished 80th overall in a field of 137 runners with a time of 19:38. Bears’ sophomores Jake Smith (20:20) and Jacob Chechel (20:27) were 91st and 96th, respectively. Senior Josh Gosselin was on Chechel’s heels in 97th place in 20:28. Other Pleasant Valley runners who competed were freshman Robert Leuthardt (111th, 24:56), junior Anthony Oliver (128th, 24:56), junior Ben Keppel (129, 24:56.) and freshman Brian Colandino (134, 27:14).

Lawrence paced the girls with a 78th-place finish from a field of 111 runners. She had a time of 24:44. Junior Lily Dannels was 84th in 25:21, senior Jenna Doman was 90th in 26:17 and junior Kaitlyn Guzman was 93rd with a time of 26:24.

The Pleasant Valley boys finished 13th out of 15 teams in the conference in an average time of 20:01. The girls’ squad didn’t have enough participants to register a team score.
