Carbon Chamber announces annual award winners

The Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corporation will honor businesses and business professionals in Carbon County for their dedication and service to our community on Nov. 18 at the annual dinner at Blue Mountain Resort.

The Old Las Vegas themed gala will focus on the great things happening in Carbon County and will feature the presentation of awards to Carbon County businesses, initiatives and individuals who have made a significant difference in our communities.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a happy hour, auction and networking in the Vista Room. The dinner and program will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the Alpine Room, The evening will also feature an overview of the CCEDC’s accomplishments and highlights from the past year.

A winners reception and afterparty will begin at 8 pm in the Vista Room, complete with music, dancing and games.

The awards will be presented to: Business of the Year, Times News; Rookie Business of the Year, Within Harmony; Tourism & Entertainment Business of the Year, Jim Thorpe Trolley Company; Volunteer & Community Impact Project of the Year, Joe Federanich; Young Professional of the Year Award, Leeann Koch; Economic Development Project, Lehigh Valley Hospital-Carbon Campus; William H. Bayer Lifetime Achievement Award, Wayne Nothstein.

“As a bottom up organization we look forward to highlighting our outstanding local business leaders and businesses in Carbon County,” said Alice Wanamaker, executive director of the CCEDC. “This night celebrates the people and the businesses in this great county.”

Business of the Year -Times News.

The award recognizes a business that has demonstrated achievement and innovation in management, workplace excellence and has committed to growing in Carbon County.

Rookie Business of the Year - Within Harmony.

The award recognizes a business that has demonstrated enthusiasm, community spirit and excellent customer service and has committed to growing in Carbon County. Two years or less in business.

Tourism & Entertainment Business of the Year - Jim Thorpe Trolley Company.

The award honors a business that attracts guests and visitors to provide amusement, recreation, hospitality and/or culture. These businesses include: restaurants, theaters, bed & breakfasts, wineries, driving ranges and eco-tourism.

Volunteer & Community Impact Project of the Year - Joe Federanich

The award recognizes an outstanding individual dedicated to supporting CCEDC and other community organizations.

Young Professional of the Year Award - Leanne Koch

The award highlights a Carbon County Young Professional highly involved in CCEDC events and community programs.

Economic Development Project ~ Lehigh Valley Hospital, Carbon Campus

The award recognizes an outstanding economic development project designed to bring jobs and economic growth to Carbon County.

William H. Bayer Lifetime Achievement Award ~ Wayne Nothstein, Commissioner

This award is in honor of the late William H. Bayer for his dedication to the community. To acknowledge his commitment to the community, the CCEDC presents this award each year to a CCEDC member that has demonstrated a lifetime commitment to our community.
