Palmerton’s 31st Halloween parade planned for Sunday

The 31st annual Palmerton Halloween Parade is at 4 p.m. Sunday. Rain date is 7 p.m. Monday.

Sponsored by the Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce, the parade will form around 2:30 p.m. at the Seventh Street and Franklin Avenue area.

It will proceed up Seventh Street to Lafayette Avenue, where it will turn down Lafayette Avenue to Second Street. It will then make a left on Second Street to Franklin Avenue, where it will turn left onto Delaware Avenue, and return to Seventh Street.

Parade chairperson Susie Arner said that participants must check in at Seventh Street and Delaware Avenue on the day of the parade.

“We are pleased to report that some new businesses have registered to participate in the parade,” Arner said.

Arner said that includes the Cartesion Dance Academy, which will have three large floats.

“Let’s watch for their creativity, and show our community appreciation to them for participating, as we do with all our participants,” she said.

Arner said each entry is appreciated by the parade committee.

“The parade committee is excited to see the creativity of the floats and costumes from everyone,” she said. “It’s such a tough job for the judges to pick the winners in all the categories, as they do see each entry as unique and outstanding.”

Arner also mentioned the Stahler Brothers LLC, Cutting Edge Property Service, and returning for its second year, Off the Charts Music School with its float called “The Deadly Charts” which she said is “sure to be scaringly fun.”

The Times News is also participating in the parade with the theme of its float being “Over 140 Years of Times News!”

The float will look at the history of newspaper, and will include historical photos. Independent contract delivery drivers Lori Gibson and Jan Sickels came up with the idea with help from Times News employees.

“The goal of this parade is same as annually, just to offer a fun, enjoyable event for all ages,” she said. “Come show your community spirit, while maybe snagging some sweet candy for your guilty pleasure.”

Arner said late entries and additional sponsors may call 484-522-8899.
