Legion meeting

American Legion Post 927 will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m., Thursday.

Pick-up days

Anyone who ordered apple dumplings from Zion Lutheran can pick them up from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday, or from 2 to 4 p.m., Friday.

School board

The Pleasant Valley school board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the District Administration Building in Brodheadsville.

Church sale

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effort, is hosting a rummage/bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

Items for sale include baked goods, clothing, shoes, household items, knick-knacks, holiday items, toys and books and whatever else is donated all to benefit the church.

Valor collection

There is a barrel at Kinsleys for VALOR for donations. However, there will be Valor volunteers at Kinsleys from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday.

Special ride

The annual VALOR Harry Phillips ride and barbecue is Saturday, beginning in Lehighton at 10 a.m., with registration till noon, and then continuing at Post 927 in Gilbert after the ride, which begins at 12:15 p.m., with a family friendly barbecue starting at 2 p.m..

Effort pantry

The Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort United Methodist Church will be making a distribution from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Distribution of food is limited to drive up/pick up service only.

Donations being sought during October by the SFRC include boxed cakes, frosting, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry, veggies.

VALOR representatives

Valor volunteers are scheduled to be at Kinsleys in Brodheadsville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, and Nov. 4. A barrel is set up at Kinsley’s to receive donations for Valor.

Pet blessing II

Our Lady Queen of Peace has announced it will have another pet blessing Saturday, same time, same place. This past Saturday’s was moved under the pavilion because of rain.

Movie time

Hocus Pocus, a movie, will be shown in the West End Park in Brodheadsville from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m., Saturday.

Harvest Home

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is celebrating Harvest Home at both the 8:30 and the 10:30 a.m. services on Sunday.

St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, will celebrate Harvest Home on both Oct. 9 and Oct. 16.

The worship services is are 9 a.m.

PVEN needs

Current needs of the PVEN include French fried onions, gravy, turkeys and turkey breasts and mashed potatoes for the food pantry and personal care items, sheets and towels, bras and sports bras, paper towels and toilet paper.

Sportsmen’s Day

The Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club is hosting Sportsmen’s Day on Sunday at 11 Gun Club Lane, Saylorsburg. There will be 33 prizes, plus 2 door prizes and refreshments.

Doors open at 11 a.m. while the activity is slated to run from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Sunday Jam

The West End Food Pantry will host a Community Fall Fest/Jam from 1 to 3 p.m., rain or shine, Sunday.

Bring a chair to enjoy the music by local legends RJ & Randy Cramer and friends.

It is being held at The Grove on Grove Rd. in Kunkletown. There will be free pumpkins, hot dogs and cider while supplies last.

Legion Riders

The American Legion Riders monthly meeting is at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, at the American Legion Post 927, on Fairgrounds Road/Route 209, in Gilbert.
