Local Roundup: Results from Sept. 23

Pleasant Valley swept Pocono Mountain West in volleyball action Friday.

VOLLEYBALL

Pleasant Vy.-PM West

Pleasant Valley remained undefeated in the Mountain Division of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-18 sweep of Pocono Mountain West.

Lexi Womack paced the Bears with 11 kills, 11 digs and an assist, while Sarah Ballek added 10 kills, three digs and two blocks.

PV also received 16 assists and eight digs from Brianna Bruckman, with Emma Bergstresser contributing nine blocks and three kills.

Jackie James finished with six digs, five assists and a couple of kills, and Nora Jones ended with six digs, five kills and four aces. Maria Saitta also chipped in with six digs, three aces and two assists.

The Bears are now 6-5 overall and 5-0 in the division.

FIELD HOCKEY

N’western-Nazareth

Zoey Emrick scored a pair of goals and Mackenzie Mann made 17 saves to lead Nazareth to a 5-0 non-conference victory over Northwestern.

The Blue Eagles, who led 2-0 at halftime, also received goals from Morgan Herceg, Emma Kunkle and Abby Wortmann.

The Tigers, who received 20 stops from goalie Gabby Gober, were outshot by a 25-17 margin.

Nazareth improved to 9-2, while Northwestern dropped to 6-4-1.

GIRLS TENNIS

Jim Thorpe-Blue Mtn.

Blue Mountain took four of five singles matches to help gain a 5-2 victory over Jim Thorpe.

Ashlynn Miller produced the only Olympian win in singles action, gaining a straight-set triumph at No. 3. Thorpe also received a doubles win from the team of Hailey Trine and Chloe Tantala.

The loss dropped the Olympians to 9-6 and snapped their six-match winning streak.
